It has a very relaxed sound to it. I have been experimenting with 5.1 music for 10 years. Excellent If you have the original, you owe it to yourself to hear this in 5.1 format. Most have been disappointing, seeming more of a gimmick than anything. This album provides a very natural sound that isn't forced into the 5.1 format.
not just an echo of what is in the front channels as so many other multi-track discs are guilty of. Instruments are discretely placed in channels. Buy this and you will thank yourself for your upgraded SACD player and 5.1 surround system. This multi-track effort from Roxy Music deserves every bit of the hype it is receiving on every audio blog as to it's quality. This was always one of my favorite CDs - the only Roxy one I still have ever owned - but it's re-mixing for SACD is truly a stellar effort by those in the studio.
The treble is clean and clear without sibilance or stridency which allows you to hear every instrument and note. The deep growling bass line of Neil Jason on "While My Heart Is Still Beating" is simply amazing. If you have an SACD player with decent amplification and speakers, then you will be rewarded by an album which must be considered as one of the finest engineered albums of all time. I cannot recommned this album highly enough. On all tracks, Bryan Ferry's voice is rock solid in the centre stage and Andy Mackay's saxaphone never sounding more sweet. The album Avalon is the first album I go to for my own listening enjoyment and also when I want to show off my excellent sound system. The balance of sound is superb. You are never left wanting more bass, which is deep, growling and authorative.
Buy it, you won't be disappointed. Regardless of the SACD quality, this album is truly a gem. It will last the ages as a breathtaking panorama of vocals, emotions and music that when combined make you feel good and hopeful that love can be found.and cherished.
Overall qauality and detail of sound is excellent and maybe a little better then the standard CD version. In comparison to Pink Floyd's "Dark Side Of The Moon" SACD, its of a much cleaner and more detailed sound, with some warmth as well.
com and you can't beat their prices and shipping time. A very well made SACD to say the least.Bought this at Amazon.
Most impressed by this SACD. Very Nice.
Great job Amazon. In comparison to the standard stereo version, it really brings out all the little details that can sometimes get hidden in 2 channel stereo.
Great usage of the center channel for strong clear vocals, with the rest distributing the instruments and backround sounds.
